The Rundown: Rick Gordon reaches out to his father while Phantom deals with a dark secret.
In the recent past, the Defenders of the Earth fight dangerous forces while Phantom takes a deadly blow. As Mandrake drags him off to heal him, he strikes a dark deal to save his friend. In the present, Phantom is angry at being bound to Mandrake as his brother takes over as Phantom and potentially corrupts his daughter.
In the present, Phantom finds a hidden room with a council of Phantoms who have a disturbing message for him. At the same time, Rick seeks his father, but finds him being blocked in his access until his computer warns him of a bigger threat that comes straight to his home.
The Story: DiDio creates some great drama in this story as it continues to evolve. There are some great moments between Phantom and Mandrake and I love that there are personal complications that make things more difficult. There is great action throughout the issue and I love the buildup of the action and drama and how it all pays off in a great cliffhanger that makes me excited to see what happens next.
The Art: Calafiore delivers some great art throughout the issue. The action in first moments of the issue is perfect for the kinetic action of the story.
